Where do we start with Olivia Arezzollo? Model, budding personal trainer, nutritionist and health counsellor. It’s never a dull day in her world.

From her humble beginnings in country Gippsland, a lot has changed since her move to Sydney. For starters you wont catch her at the local pizza shop eating 6 slices of thick crust extra cheesy satay chicken pizzas anymore. These days she would most likely be found pressing weights of 115 kilos and snacking on paleo bars. We have the pleasure of getting an insight into how she maintains her mantra of clean living whilst juggling the daily grind.

1. OCCUPATION?

Model / budding personal trainer / nutritionist / health counsellor

2. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP AND WHERE DO YOU CURRENTLY CALL HOME?

In a little country town called Sale in Gippsland – you might know the yoghurt. Home is Potts Point with my boyfriend.

3. TELL ME A DAY IN YOUR LIFE?

Always starts with something fitness related: running, weights at the gym, yoga, pilates, walking. Then a mix of castings/shooting/blogging/seeing pt clients/seeing nutrition clients/visiting brands/companies for potential partnership opportunities. In between there is a lot of chai tea and phone calls to my family, and if im lucky the day will end in sharing the evening with good company, good food and even better wine: the three key components to happiness.

4. HOW DID YOU GET INTO HEALTH/NUTRITION AND FITNESS?

To be honest, I don’t ever feel I got ‘into’ it – i couldn’t imagine my life ‘without’ it. Growing up I played basketball, netball, did gymnastics and dancing. I lived in a town of 14,000 people – an afternoon running around with my two jack russells was a pretty outstanding choice considering the options available. I will note that the nutrition element became more important to me when I started getting a bit porky at the age of 13 - I started working at a pizza shop and discovered that 6 slices of thick crust extra cheese satay chicken pizza 4 nights a week had a direct correlation to my increasing waist size. Even when I was younger I always was quite proactive, so I started learning some healthier alternatives and cooking for myself. The next real revolution came when I was 20 and I moved out of home, when I mapped out what I wanted for my life. I identified that I wanted to reach my ultimate self in each component – relationships, health, personal development and career –and in order to achieve that it meant I needed to look after myself properly. In doing this, I also aimed (and still aim) to encourage and inspire others to do the same.

5. TOP THREE SONGS ON YOUR WORKOUT PLAYLIST AND WHAT IS IT ABOUT THEM THAT MOTIVATE YOU?

‘I could be the one’ by avicii and nicky romero – watch the film clip and understand; Benediction by Hot Natured, Ali Love and Want you in my Soul by Lovebirds – I first heard these two songs over a summer which was a pinnacle for me mentally: I had just learnt the concepts of mindfulness and was meditating on embracing the moment, embodying love and experiencing the most joy possible: whenever I hear these melodies it takes me right back.

6. WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR IN THE FITNESS FIELD?

Not sure if its an achievement but after starting weights about 8 months ago I’m now leg pressing around 115kg, and for a small girl I feel pretty good about myself.

7. TELL ME YOUR THREE FAVOURITE LOCAL PLACES TO EAT/DRINK/HANG OUT?

I absolutely love the Bondi beach markets, primarily to taste test all the organic / gluten free/ dairy free/ vegan food; The Butler in potts point (it’s a complete 10/10) and a hole in the wall Japanese spot called Sushi Yashiko.

8. I’VE BEEN HEARING ALOT ABOUT KOMBUCHA BARS, CAN YOU FILL US IN MORE AND ARE YOU A FAN?

Kombucha is a fermented tea, there are kombucha bars overseas (LA I’d assume) where you can share kombucha just as if you were sharing a pot of english breakfast tea, and not sure if they are in Sydney yet. The drink itself is quite amazing in its detoxifying properties, how it can aid digestion and improve overall immunity. Personally though, I hate it – to me it tastes like venom.

9. AS YOU PROBABLY TRAVEL QUITE A BIT WITH MODELLING, WHAT ARE THE ESSENTIAL ITEMS YOU PACK TO KEEP YOU FIT AND HEALTHY WHEN ON THE ROAD?

I’d say the most essential item is my phone: firstly, it has my music which is a critical component of my morning workout; and second, it helps me stay in touch with my boyfriends/family/friends/clients – because I’m often running around or waiting around on a shoot, I spend a lot of time on the phone. Second most important is food - because my schedule is unpredictable, I love to have healthy snacks with me to share or enjoy on the go: my incredible homemade hommus/avocado/basil pesto dip (no lies here, its amazing) with crackers, Blue Dinosaur Paleo Bars (the brazillian is my favourite) and walnuts – lots of walnuts. My trainers / gym clothes are usually with me for any fitness clients; and a huge jacket, because a happy Olivia is a warm Olivia, and because of the nature of my work being in a climate controlled environment is not an option. The other thing to keep me healthy is my journal, because I have 12432536 ideas/thoughts each day – because I think if I didn’t do this my head would combust.

10. CAN YOU TELL US ANYTHING THAT YOU'RE EXCITED ABOUT AT THE MOMENT?

Sure. I’m in the process of redesigning my website (www.oliviaarezzolo.com.au) to accommodate the transition from purely modeling to also using my psychology degree, my personal training qualification and nutrition studies to improve the health and wellbeing of others. It’s been a long time coming and I’m excited about what it will eventuate into – Watch this space!
